About us

Swimming with Crocodiles is bringing my experience of remote Australia to you through my art, a representation of over a decade living and working in Australia's Top End communities, the people I have been privileged to live and work with and the rich beautiful colors of the remote Australian landscape, all of which have been my inspiration. I strongly support the homelands movement, and it is my vision to support Yolngu people to return to and remain on their homelands through supporting them with their own small independent business ideas by assisting them to find sponsors, donors and business mentors.

Djama Eco Print:

Working exclusively in remote locations across Australia's Top End, my practice employs only native Australian plants and dyes. Rust sourced from car graveyards in remote communities is incorporated directly into the work, where oxidation creates distinctive orange, red, and brown tones that function as natural colorants alongside botanical materials. I use fair trade textiles and pre-loved garments to produce unique one-off pieces of wearable art.

Gattakers Print Space and Impress Studio Brisbane:

Studio-based work explores sustainable printmaking through non-toxic inks and innovative materials including UHT milk carton etchings, challenging traditional approaches to the medium. I gratefully acknowledge the veteran printmakers and mentors I work with across these spaces.

Methodology

My work emerges from extensive fieldwork in Australia's most remote Northern regions, where both natural and industrial materials are sourced with consideration for cultural sensitivity and environmental impact. The juxtaposition of organic botanical impressions with industrial patina creates a visual dialogue between natural processes and human presence in isolated landscapes.

Each piece documents a specific time and place, using materials that have been transformed by Australian conditions - whether through natural growth cycles or weathering processes. This approach ensures authenticity of place while addressing contemporary concerns about sustainability and waste.

Materials: Exclusively Australian native plants, natural rust patination, recycled industrial components, and non-toxic printing media. Fair trade and pre-loved clothing.

Philosophy

My practice operates at the intersection of environmental consciousness and artistic innovation, transforming discarded materials into contemporary art while maintaining respect for traditional knowledge systems and cultural protocols.
